Honestly, I wasn't planning to do a registry at all, but enough people have asked that I wanted to put something together. Please do not feel obligated in any way. I recently heard "give what you can lovingly, and no more" and that very much applies here.

Zeph is having a baby! While in utero, they're going by Cricket. And Zeph has tons of wonderful people around him (like you!) who have been asking for ways to support him and his growing family.
Lots of reasons! The biggest one is that most baby gear gets used for a few months and then thrown away, and that seems like a massive waste. It's bad for the environment, it's bad for parents, it feels like icky consumerism that is telling me "you must buy only new things or you don't love your child." I'm calling BS on that by designing a registry that prioritizes used items. There are a few items like car seats that for safety reasons are best purchased new. If getting something new for me is important to you, filter on the must be new tag.
I hear you! I've tried to make it as easy as possible by linking to easy-to-use websites like thriftbooks and poshmark where there's a good chance of finding the items I'm looking for. If you're in the mood for a project, you could even get familiar with your local buy-nothing group or facebook marketplace/craigslist (do people still use craigslist?) and keep an eye out for some of the items there.
If used just isn't feeling good to you but you really want to get me something, you have a few other options: you can filter on the must be new tag, or you can contribute directly to something specific like my doula fund or diaper fund by filtering on the specific funds tag.
Honestly, I got annoyed at commercial baby registries because they just don't support used items or specific forms of help (check out "library helper" and "help me research a thing" for examples). And one of the few benefits of being a web developer/software engineer is that by golly, I can just do my own dang website. So here we are.
